COOKEVILLE CHAPEL-Funeral services for Mr. James William Lynn will be held Monday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Stephen Moore will officiate

His family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

A devoted family man, James passed away peacefully at his residence on May 8, 2025. Born on March 8, 1929, in Overton County, Tennessee, he led a life filled with hard work and dedication.

James carved out a meaningful career as a carpenter and was known for his lifelong passion for farming. His humble nature and relentless work ethic were evident in everything he did. He will be remembered fondly by those who knew him, especially for his smile, laugh and wonderful sense of humor, which could brighten even the darkest of days.

As a proud member of Algood Church of God since its inception in 1973, James actively contributed to his faith community, fostering connections and offering support to friends and neighbors alike. His interests included time spent outdoors fishing and gardening.

James is survived by his son, Jerry and wife Tena Lynn; daughter, Connie and husband Randall Kinnaird; grandchildren, Emily (Jeff) Elliott, J.D. Lynn, and Sara Hammons; and great granddaughter, Carol Lynn Elliott. He is also survived by his brothers Kenneth Lynn and Daina Lynn, and sisters Pauline Goolsby, Betty Grissom, and Wanda Smith, along with several nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Avert and Vida Phillips Lynn; his beloved wife of 71 years, Betty J. Phann Lynn; as well as his siblings: brothers Charlie, Harold, and Ray Lynn; and sisters Evelyn Barlow, Grace Robbins, and Sue Buell.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are asked to be made to Smith Chapel Cemetery, 7690 Smith Chapel Rd., Cookeville, TN 38501.
