Funeral services for Mrs. Jamie Edith Phy, age 88 of Cookeville will be held Sunday October 29 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ryan Barnhart officiating. Interment will follow in Phillips Cemetery. Mrs. Phy's family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Phy died suddenly Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Cookeville Regional Medical. She was born October 27, 1928 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Walter Columbus and Emma Jane Henson Allen. Jamie was a member of Post Oak Presbyterian Church for over 70 years. Her life revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren who she loved dearly. She was a "people" person, known for her compassion and caring nature. She was a wonderful cook, and she loved to spend time quilting and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Dawson Phy; three sisters, Bonnie Allen, Viva Chilton, and Alpha Garman; and three brothers, Johnny, Orville, and Willie Allen. Survivors include her two sons, Mike Phy (fiancee`, Debbie Polson) of Bennettsville, SC and David Phy of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Travis Phy, Amanda Phy, Michael (Natalie) Phy, and Susan Phy; and a great grandson, Landon Michael Phy. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Jamie's family wishes to extend heartfelt "THANKS" to the Management and Staff of Morningside for their exceptional care rendered to their mother.
