DYER CHAPEL-Jean Tower, born on October 4, 1934, in Blossburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Signature of Putnam County. She was a cherished member of the Cookeville community, known for her warm spirit and dedication to her family.
In her professional life, Jean worked as a cashier at West End Market in Cookeville, where she was appreciated not only for her efficiency but also for her friendly demeanor that made each customer feel valued. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her love for her hobbies, including crafting, sewing, and crocheting. Jean found immense joy in cooking for her family and spending quality time with those she loved.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Edward Tower, whom she married on January 15, 1954, in Wellsburg, NY, and who passed away on November 8, 1996. She also mourned the loss of her daughter, Cindy Tower Nash, as well as her sons, Robert "Bobby" Tower and Scot Tower. Additionally, she was preceded by her parents, Edward Dryer Sr. and Francina Wineogene Kendall Dryer.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving sons, Tim (Linda) Tower, Bill Tower of Cookeville, David (Phylis) Tower of Baxter, and Shawn (Vickie) Tower, of Cookeville. Jean’s legacy will continue through her 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who remember her as a loving matriarch who brought joy and creativity into their lives.
A visitation in honor of Jean will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM at Dyer Chapel, located at 798 South Willow Avenue, Cookeville, TN 38501 with Bro. Ken Haney officiating. Interment will follow in Double Springs Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to gather to celebrate Jean’s life and share their memories.
Jean Tower was a steadfast presence in the lives of many, and her loving spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
