COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Jeanie Cowan, born on September 16, 1956, in Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday May 12, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Cookeville, Jeanie was a dedicated member of the community who touched many lives through her warmth, kindness, and generosity.

Jeanie was a proud graduate of Cookeville High School, Class of 1974. Throughout her life, she demonstrated a deep love for gospel music, which brought much joy and comfort to her and those around her. An exceptional cook, she delighted family and friends with her culinary talents, often creating memorable meals that became the backdrop for cherished gatherings. Jeanie held a particular fondness for collecting teddy bears and horse figurines, treasures that reflected her gentle spirit and appreciation for the simple joys.

Her love extended beyond people to animals, most notably her beloved pet dog, Ellie May, who was a cherished companion. She was also a faithful member of Breakthrough Church, where her faith and commitment were a source of strength and inspiration.

Jeanie is survived by her devoted husband, Edward "Eddie" Lee Cowan; her son, Derrick Cowan of Cookeville, Tennessee; and her daughter, Alicia (Zack) Mosley, also of Cookeville. She leaves behind her brother, Roger (Sheila) Gaw of Smithville, Tennessee, and her sister, Annette (Jeff) Sullivan of Hebron, Kentucky, along with many nieces and nephews who will carry forward her loving memory.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred G and Ila Mae Scott Gaw, whose legacy she honored through her life of service and compassion.

Family, friends, and all who knew Jeanie are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her remarkable life at the Cookeville Chapel, located at 59 N Jefferson Avenue, Cookeville, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Friday May 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday May 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. on May 16, at the same location with Pastor Jason Stanford officiating.

Jeanie’s final resting place will be at Algood City Cemetery in Algood, Tennessee.

Her life was marked by love, faith, and a uniquely warm presence, leaving an indelible impact on all who were fortunate to know her. Jeanie Cowan’s memory will be forever cherished by her family, friends, and community.
