COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Jennifer Lynn Dewar, beloved member of the Cookeville and Tennessee Tech community, passed away at her residence on Monday August 3, 2026, at the age of 66. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 14, 1959, Jennifer's journey led her to enrich the lives of many through her dedicated service and unwavering faith.

Jennifer began her distinguished career at Tennessee Tech University in February 2013 as an administrative associate. Her dedication and expertise quickly propelled her into the role of records officer and reference specialist in University Archives & Special Collections. For thirteen years, she was a trusted resource for researchers, students, faculty, staff, and community members. Her commitment to preserving the history and stories of the university was evident in the numerous exhibits she helped create, including those commemorating significant events such as the 2017 solar eclipse, the Christmas Forest at the Cookeville History Museum, and the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.

A talented database designer and programmer, Jennifer also made significant contributions to Tennessee Tech, including creating a copyright for the university. Her research assistance facilitated the publication of books and editorial articles and even corrected several World War II records concerning American Air Force missions.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jennifer was deeply involved in the Cookeville community. She actively participated with the Putnam County Historical Society, Friends of White Plains, and the Putnam County National Day of Prayer Task Force. Her life was guided by her deep and abiding Christian faith, which she lived out through her love and defense of Israeli and the Jewish people. Her involvement with the Anti-Semitism Task Force reflected her commitment to ensuring proper recourse and support for faith communities across Tennessee.

A member of the Bend Church in Cookeville, Jennifer was known for her kindness, warmth, and encouragement, which she attributed to her faith. Her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dr. Bert Warren and Dr. Charlotte Warren.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Tony Dewar; her cherished children, Rosemary Lynn Stainbrook (Michael), Jonathan Dewar (Devan), Elizabeth Dewar, and Victoria Ruth Judd (Chad); and her adored grandchildren, Connor Dewar, Eugene Judd, and Finnegan Judd.

A funeral service honoring Jennifer will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home (59 N Jefferson Ave). Pastor Shane Warren will officiate. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday from 11:30 a.m - 1 p.m.
