Jewell Elizabeth McCaleb

DYER CHAPEL-Jewell Elizabeth McCaleb, a cherished member of the Cookeville community, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born in Jackson County, Tennessee, on September 23, 1939, Jewell was the daughter of the late Haskell and Beulah Lambert Flatt. She graduated from Jackson County High School, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavours.

Throughout her life, Jewell dedicated herself to her family and her passions. Embracing her role as a homemaker and farmer's wife, she created a warm and loving home. Jewell's work at Flowserve was complemented by her profound commitment to her family, making her a source of support and strength for all who knew her.

Jewell is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Bobby Lee McCaleb, whom she married on September 2, 1967; her son, Marcus McCaleb, of Crossville, TN; and her sister, Joyce Pippin, of Bloomington Springs, TN, 2 sisters-in-law, Evelyn Flatt and Juanita Flatt, and several nieces and nephews also carry on her legacy of love and resilience

Her interests were as vibrant as her personality; Jewell found joy in working with flowers and cultivating rose bushes, reflecting her love for nature. As a skilled seamstress, she brought creativity and care into her handiwork, which brought warmth to her family and friends alike. She was a great cook. She made the best chicken and dumplings and fried apple pies.

Jewell was proud to be a member of the Willow Avenue Church of Christ where she helped with Willow Meals, a community that provided her with support and fellowship throughout her life. Her spirit was brightened by the connections she made there, and she cherished the bonds formed through her faith.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Beulah Lambert Flatt; her brothers, Harold and Kenneth Flatt; and her sister, Emogene Birdwell. These loved ones surely welcomed her as she finds peace in their presence once more.
