COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Jo Ann Herron passed away peacefully at her residence on September 11, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on October 14, 1939, in Cookeville, TN, Jo Ann was a cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She lived a life rich with devotion to her family and community, leaving behind a legacy of warm memories and enduring kindness.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Neely and Etta Franklin Frizzell, and her brothers, Dave Frizzell and Bob Frizzell. Her spirit is carried on by her loving husband of 57 years, James Herron, her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Lori Herron, and her adored grandchildren, Lani (Ethan) Christian, James "Lance" (Katie) Herron, and Brady Herron. Jo Ann's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her five great-grandchildren, Cole, Dane, Lyndi, Lylah Christian, and Carter Herron, who will continue to be inspired by her legacy.
A graduate of Cookeville Central High, Jo Ann furthered her education by attending Tennessee Tech University. Her professional life was marked by her role as a secretary working alongside her brother Bob at his business, Action Home Health, and serving the City of Cookeville with her organizational skills and warm demeanor. Jo Ann's commitment to her faith and community was evident through her 57-year membership at Willow Ave Church of Christ, where she and her husband, James, were pillars of support and friendship.
Jo Ann's zest for life was apparent to all who knew her. She was an embodiment of love and friendliness, always ready to extend a helping hand or share a comforting word. Her adventurous spirit shone brightly through her love of travel, walking, camping, and playing games like Yahtzee, which she enjoyed with competitive yet gentle glee.
Family was the cornerstone of Jo Ann's world. She cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandkids and great-grandkids, nurturing each relationship with care and joy. Her presence at family gatherings was a source of happiness and laughter, creating memories that will be treasured and recounted for generations.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Clarence Deloach will officiate. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
