DYER CHAPEL-Manuel Joseph "Joey" DeVillanueva, a dedicated family man and hardworking individual, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, May 22, 2026. Born on May 6, 1972, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Joey's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to family, friends, and the values that shaped him as a loyal and dependable presence in the lives of those around him.
Throughout his career, Joey worked diligently as a truck driver and in construction, fields in which his strong work ethic and determination were evident. Beyond his professional life, he was known for his love of the outdoors, enjoying activities such as fishing and hunting, and cherishing time spent outside. A man who found joy in grilling out, Joey also treasured moments with his grandchildren, who brought much happiness to his life.
Those who knew Joey remember him as a steadfast individual who was always there for his family, embodying loyalty and love. His personality reflected hard work and a deep sense of devotion to both family and friends, qualities that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Joey is survived by his beloved sons, Manuel (Jasmine) DeVillanueva, Ryan DeVillanueva, and Cody (Rory) Herman; his cherished grandchildren, Manuel Percy, Max, Alana, Jordan, and Julian; his siblings Mary Fields of Baxter and Myra Waal, along with her life partner Jim Rutledge of Missouri, David (Stephanie) DeVillanueva of San Bernardino, California, William (Brenda) DeVillanueva of Elmira, New York, Aloha (Shane) Briggs of Doyle, TN, Michael (Rachel) DeVillanueva, and Amanda (Chris) Harris, both of Cookeville.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Dorothy Irene Brannum DeVillanueva; his wife of 32 years, Tiffany Lynn Delaney DeVillanueva; and his siblings Elizabeth Arms and Joseph DeVillanueva. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Tommy Fields.
A graveside service honoring Joey’s life will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Cunningham Cemetery, located at 1867 Cunningham Road, Cookeville, Tennessee 38506. Friends and family are invited to gather at this time to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose legacy of hard work, love, and loyalty will continue to inspire all who knew him.
