John Goodson

Funeral services for John Marion Goodson, 85, of Cookeville and formerly of Prattville, Alabama, will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home in Montgomery, Alabama. Internment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. Mr. Goodson died at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville on Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born August 26, 1925 in Prattville, Alabama, the son of Jesse McClain and Lillian Beatrice (Barber) Goodson. Mr. Goodson was a retired electrician who owned and operated Goodson Electric Company in Montgomery for many years. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Goodson and Lawrence Goodson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel Crow Goodson of Cookeville; daughters Barbara Goodson (and husband Jeff Austen) of Cookeville, and Patricia Goodson (and husband Dean Roddick) of Laramie, Wyoming; brothers Ralph, Clarence, and Ernest Goodson of Prattville, Alabama; sister Mary Wilson of Montgomery, Alabama; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a daughter from a previous marriage, Diane Beck of Hixson, Tennessee.
