Johnie Bryant

BAXTER CHAPEL-Mrs. Johnie Bryant was born June 16, 1939 in Putnam County, TN she passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the age of 86.

Johnie attended Baxter Seminary.

She enjoyed gardening, canning an preserving fruits and vegetables for family and friends. She enjoyed family get togethers with all her family and many friends.

Johnnie enjoyed going to town to shop.

She served many years as a cook/dietician at the former Masters Health Care Center in Algood and Upperman High School in Baxter.

Faith was an important part of her life, she worshipped at Pleasant Grove Church and later at Faith Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Kenneth "TURTLE" Bryant on September 12, 2009, father John T. Russell, mother Floy Madewell Russell Scarlett and step-father, Carl Scarlett, sister Mary Russell Jordan, brothers James Russell and Albert Russell.

She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter Teresa (David) Gibbons, Sons Kenny Bryant, Tommy Bryant and Jeff Bryant and his fiance Natalie Viens all of Baxter, grandchildren Travis (Lindsey) Gibbons, Cierra Gibbons, McKenna Bryant and fiance Justin Smith, Cayla (Matt) Foster, Ryan (Grace) Gibbs, great children: Lucas Gibbons, Lillianna Gibbons, Hallie Smith, Kenzie Judd, Hayden Judd and Ethan Judd, great-great grandchild Maddox, sisters Pauline Norrod of Cookeville, Ruby and husband Keith May of Nineveh, Indiana, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment will be Wednesday, May 20 at 1 PM at Russell-Apple Family Cemetery, Sullins Hollow Road, Buffalo Valley, TN. There will no visitation at the funeral home, everyone will meet at the cemetery.family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
