BAXTER CHAPEL-Jonathan Benjamin Currence, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away at his home in Buffalo Valley, Tennessee, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the age of 41. Born on November 25, 1983, in Knoxville, TN, Jonathan was an Army veteran who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom, receiving the Purple Heart, he demonstrated a commendable spirit of service and dedication to his country.
Jonathan was a 2001 graduate of West High School in Knoxville. He was known for his outgoing personality, which was reflected in his passion for farming. His commitment to nurturing both his farm and family was evident through his active participation at local farmers markets, where he enjoyed connecting with friends and customers alike.
Family was at the center of Jonathan's life. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Gant Currence (married July 1, 2006), three sons, Jonathan "JT", Eivin, and Calvin; six daughters, Charity, Aubrielle, Elizabeth Karen, Addison, Emily, and Tauriel Currence, all of Buffalo Valley, TN. He cherished the moments spent with his family.
In addition to his immediate family, Jonathan is survived by his mother, Karen (Steve) Goldman of Knoxville, and his siblings: Lenore Currence, Erin Carver, Abbie Cary, all of Knoxville, Heather Cheverton of Heber, Utah, and Candace Moran of Texas. Each of them will remember him for his honesty, sense of humor, and his brotherly love.
Jonathan's contributions to his family and community were profound, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. The love he shared will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Baxter Chapel, located at 532 4th Ave, Baxter, TN, starting at 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM with Bro. Jeff Wright officiating. He will be laid to rest at Currence Family Cemetery, 3381 Mill Pond Lane, Buffalo Valley, TN, during a graveside service on Saturday, November 22, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM. Terry Gant will officiate the graveside service.
Jonathan Currence will be remembered for his dedication, teaching his children the bible and work ethic. His memory will forever be a part of the many lives he touched.
