Joe Bargovan

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Joseph Mark Bargovan, known affectionately as Joe, passed away on Monday November 10, 2025, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on October 29, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Joe led a life infused with love, faith, and dedication to his family.

Joe had a fruitful career, beginning with 25 years at General Motors in Detroit before relocating to Cookeville, where he continued his professional journey as a quality engineer at TRW. He ultimately retired from TRW, leaving behind a legacy of commitment to excellence in his work.

As a proud member of the United States Army military, Joe served his country with honor.

A devout Christian and active member of Stevens Street Baptist Church, Joe lived a life of faith and service. He was known for giving wise counsel and was a strong, Godly man who made a lasting impact on those around him. He was particularly proud of his spiritual journey, having been saved from a televised Billy Graham crusade, which he regarded as one of his most significant events in his life.

Joe found joy in life's simple pleasures, enjoying hobbies such as bowling and golfing, and throughout his life, he maintained a passion for playing the accordion. He cherished not only his interests but also the bonds he formed with his loved ones.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Jean Bargovan; his children Mark Bargovan (wife Cathy), Stephanie Crozier (husband Jaime), Sara Bargovan, Jennifer Tramel (husband David), and Pate Watson (wife Kristy); his sister, Sylvia Lohr; as well as his grandchildren Landon and Sloane Bargovan, three grandchildren by Stephanie Crozier, Hannah Patterson, and her husband Brennan, alongside his great-grandchildren Kinsley France, Aliza, Kylee, Emmerlyn and Baylor Patterson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Constantine and Anita Julie Bargovan; as well as his sisters, Helen Almendarez and Darlene Trupaino; and brother, Peter Bargovan.

A funeral service to honor Joe will be at 3 p.m. Saturday November 15 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastors Scott Parkison and Rick Lowhorn will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Saturday from 1 - 3 p.m. Joe will be laid to rest with military honors at Algood City Cemetery.
