Joyce Marie Puckett

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - A celebration of life service for Mrs. Joyce Marie Puckett, age 81, will be held Thursday, August 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Joyce passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at her home in Cookeville, TN. Born on September 6, 1944, in Sylva, North Carolina, she lived a life marked by love, dedication, and genuine kindness.

Joyce was the cherished wife of David Puckett, with whom she shared many years of companionship. Her legacy is carried on through her son, Lee Herron, and daughter-in-law, Kaye Herron. She was lovingly embraced by her stepdaughters, Regina and Sonya, and adored by her grandchildren: Kassie, Kayla, and Jonathan, each of whom held a special place in her heart; along with her 5 step-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Wayne Jones, and her sister, Freda Whittaker. Joyce was preceded in death by her father, James Jones, her mother, Elois Hooper Jones, and her brother, Jim Jones, whose memories were always cherished.

Joyce had a joyful spirit and a love for creativity, finding much pleasure in crafts. Her hands brought beauty to those around her, whether through handmade treasures or tending to her garden. Gardening was not just a hobby, but a way for her to nurture and create vibrant spaces for her family and friends to enjoy.

Always thoughtful and gentle, Joyce’s presence brought comfort to all who knew her. Her devotion to her loved ones was unwavering and her kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege to know her. Her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
