JUDY COOPER

Judith Ann Cooper, born on May 29, 1940, in Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at NHC Healthcare, Cookeville. Her life, marked by service, warmth, and vibrant connections, leaves a lasting impression not only on those who knew her best but throughout her beloved community.

Judith built a career as an LPN nurse at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. In her many years of service, she touched countless lives with her skill, compassion, and deep love of people. Colleagues and patients alike respected and admired her dedication to nursing and her unwavering commitment to providing care in times of greatest need.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Judith was known for her joyous and spirited personality. She embodied a fun-loving and social nature, approaching life with genuine happiness that was infectious to all who had the pleasure of being in her company. Whether hosting friends and family or sharing a laugh in a quiet moment, Judith’s gregarious presence was a source of comfort and delight.

Her love for socializing extended into her leisure time, with cherished moments spent playing Yahtzee and video games-activities that reflected her playful spirit and desire for connection. Judith’s ability to bring people together and foster joy in every setting is among the many gifts she leaves behind.

Judith is survived by her loving daughter Lisa DeSpain and son-in-law Chris DeSpain, her nieces and nephews, as well as her sister-in-law Joyce Herron. Each of them carries forward her enduring spirit and the memory of her unwavering love.

She is preceded in death by her father, Willis D. Burgess; her mother, Julia Coplin Burgess; her beloved husband, Roy Lee Cooper; her sons, Michael Cooper and Keith Cooper; and her sister, Betty Gilliam.

Judith Cooper’s legacy is one of kindness, sociability, and a zest for life. Her laughter, joyful heart, and dedication to both her career and her family will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
