Justine Wheaton

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Justine Matilda (Crockett) Wheaton, age 96, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed into the arms of her Savior on Monday October 13, 2025. She was born on August 5, 1929, in Jamestown, Tennessee, to the late France and Effie (Williams) Crockett.

Justine was a woman of deep Christian faith, love, and enduring strength. She married Clyde Palmer Wheaton, on April 10, 1949, and together they built a home rooted in faith, family, and service.

Throughout her life, Justine embodied the spirit of a nurturer. As a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she took immense joy in the moments spent with her family. Her devotion extended beyond her immediate family; she served as a dedicated homemaker and beautician, earning her beautician’s license and later working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at NHC. Her compassion and tireless work did not go unnoticed, as she was honored with the title of "CNA of the Year" in 2001.

An active member of her community and the Nazarene church, Justine loved to host church Christmas parties at her home, bringing joy to many. Her kindness was reflected in her roles as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a creator of beautiful handmade gifts through crocheting and knitting. Justine relished sunny days spent in her garden or by the lake, where she cherished the beauty of nature and the company of her loved ones.

Justine is survived by her three devoted sons: Larry Winton, married to Alice; Clyde Edward (Ed) Wheaton, married to Gail; and Justice Wayne Wheaton, married to Vicki. She leaves behind a legacy further enriched by her grandchildren: Kara and her husband Matt Buckner, Holly and her husband Travis Greaves, Beth and her husband Rusty Walker, Wade and his wife Laurin, and Rachael and her husband Jacob Howard. Justine was also a proud great-grandmother to Ava and Noah Buckner, Fisher, Catherine, and Barrett Greaves, twins Cyrus and Roman Walker, Kennedy and Palmer Wheaton, and Noah, Levi, Ali Kate, and Zach Howard. Justine is remembered fondly by her sisters, Nellie Hogan and Mary Guthrie, and her brothers, Lynn and Phillip Crockett.

In addition to her parents, France and Effie Crockett and beloved husband Clyde; she was preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Hatfield and Dorothy Duncan; and her brothers John, William (Bill), Wendell, Lloyd, and James Crockett.

A graveside service to honor Justine will be at 12 noon Monday October 20 at Fentress Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, Tennessee. Rev. James Staggs and Rev. Tyler Rutherford will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Justine’s memory to a local hospice or church ministry.

Justine will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, but her legacy continues in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those she touched with her warmth and caring spirit.

As Matthew 25:23 lovingly states, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
