Karen was born on January 5, 1961, in Athens, Georgia, to her beloved parents, David and Joan Cummins, who have preceded her in death. Their nurturing spirits undoubtedly shaped the remarkable woman Karen became.

Karen's life was a testament to love, laughter, and lifelong dedication to her family and community. She shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her devoted husband, Lyle Thompson, with whom she celebrated over 43 years of partnership and love.
