BAXTER-Funeral services for Kenneth Ray Roberts, 87 of Baxter will be Tuesday, September 15 at 11 AM at Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Fox and Harold Ralph Maynard will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 8 PM and after 9 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Roberts passed away suddenly Sunday morning September 13, 2020 at his home. He was born June 1, 1933 in the Boma Community of Putnam County, TN to the late William Mansfield and Ulah Solona Lindsey Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Mildred Ladelle Saylors Roberts, second wife Betty Ruth Dyer Roberts, sisters Zola Burgess, Nola Thomas, Sobrima Maxwell, Betty Robinson, Corda Stanley, Flossie Henley, brother M.J. Roberts, Jr. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He worked and trained mules since the age of 12. He helped work on Center Hill Dam, at Acme Boot and Averitt Express. He enjoyed doing carpentry work and his tractors. He loved his family especially the grand and great-grandkids. He enjoyed taking care of his "critters" and made sure to let his family know he was on call day or night. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Danny and Angela Roberts of Cookeville, daughter and son-in-law Jo Ann and Mike Deckard of Cookeville, son and daughter-in-law Lynell and Christie Elmore of Baxter, grandchildren: Dustin Roberts, Deann (Clayton) Peek, Jason (Jennifer) Robert Gentry, Charles William Gentry , Ashley (Billy) Krause, Alyssa Lynn Elmore, Elaini (Calvin) Hall and William Andrew (Lexi) Elmore with baby "on the way", great grandchildren: Alli Beth Roberts, Parker Roberts, Thomas Peek, Emmie Peek, Vaughn Krause, Vera Krause, Samuel Gentry, Elisabeth Gentry, several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers David Medley, Clayton Peek, Dustin Roberts, Alyssa Elmore, Andrew Elmore, Jake Wade, Jason Gentry and Kim Dyer.
