Leta Mae Vitatoe, age 76, of Cookeville TN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Cookeville Regional Medical Center on December 29, 2020. She is survived by husband, Carl T. Vitatoe native of Haysi VA, resident of Cookeville, TN; Sister, Reta Goans of Sacramento, CA; Sons, Charles Vitatoe of Cookeville, TN. Carl (JR) and wife Cindy Cross of Cookeville, TN. Christopher and wife Olivia Vitatoe of Colorado Springs, CO;. Daughter, Wanda (Mousy) and Husband Chuck Hayes of Cookeville, TN; Grandchildren: Amanda and husband Ryan Vinson of Cookeville, TN, Kenny and wife Danielle Hayes of St. Claire Shores, MI, Aaron Vitatoe of Flagstaff, AZ, Samantha Vitatoe of Colorado Springs, CO, Caitlynn Cross of Cookeville, TN, Krystal Cross of Michigan, Erica and husband Josh Brooks of Arlington, TN, Kasey and husband Matthew Smith of Cookeville, TN, Chas and wife Sanae Hayes of Japan, Max Hayes of Hazel Park, MI, Zachary Hayes of Clearwater, FL, Aiden Albrecht of Klickitat, WA, Andrew, Liam and Claire Westerfield of Colorado Springs, CO.; Great grandchildren: Riley, Emma, Lucy and Cora Vinson of Cookeville, TN, Austin, Ella, and Lincoln Hayes of St. Claire Shores, MI, Sophie and Nathan Smith of Cookeville, TN, Nicholas and Elizabeth Brooks of Arlington, TN, Timothey, Gage, Izaiah, and Ashanti Hayes of Hazel Park, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ann Goans; siblings, Ronnie and Jimmy Goans, and great granddaughter, Madison Vinson. Leta was a homemaker and took great pride in her family. Often said to be ornery, feisty, and passionate she was one to be reckoned with. She had the ability to create a lasting impression. Her spirited personality, genuine honesty, and playful banter is what we as her family will miss the most. Lovingly referred to as Mamaw. To know her was to Love her. A memorial service is being planned for a later time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home to help with arrangements.
