COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Lewis Wilson, a devoted auto mechanic and service advisor who dedicated many years of his life as a manager at Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at his residence in Cookeville, TN surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 8, 1941, in Bancroft, Michigan, Lewis’ journey through life was marked by a profound sense of duty, a remarkable work ethic, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who crossed his path.
Throughout his career, Lewis distinguished himself not just through his expertise in the automotive field, but also for his warm personality. Known for his sweet soul and his witty sense of humor, he brought joy to both his colleagues and customers, leaving a lasting imprint on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for animals was evident, as he treated every living creature with kindness and respect, reflecting the depth of his character.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Lewis proudly served in the United States Army, showcasing his commitment to his country and community. His military service further shaped him into the man that his loved ones admired so deeply. He was particularly proud of the close relationship he maintained with his sisters, Carolyn and Judy, a testament to his unwavering devotion to family.
Lewis is survived by his cherished children: Greg Wilson, Janette Fulton, Debbie Moore, and Jennifer (Jeff) Wilson-Benjamin. His legacy will live on through his adored grandchildren: Tyler, Allie, Justin, Alexandria, Isabel, Demi, and Elizabeth, who brought him immense joy and pride. He also leaves behind dear friends Kim Dennison (his aunt) and Frank Richbourg, who stood by him through thick and thin.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lewis Melvin Wilson, Sr. and Lucille M. Robinson, as well as his sister, Ruth Ann, whose memory he carried throughout his life.
Memorial services are being planned. Interment with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery.
