Baxter

BAXTER CHAPEL-Mrs. Linda Annette Ramsey Maxwell, age 80, of Cookeville, Tennessee, peacefully passed from this life surrounded by the love of her family. Born October 8, 1945, in New Orleans Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Asberry B. Ramsey and Ruby Joyce Ward Ramsey.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Denton Ramsey and Kenny Ramsey; mother and father-in-law Olen and Myrtle Maxwell, sisters-in-law Jalema Apple, Betty Bennett, Marsha Maxwell and brother-in-law Jerry Maxwell and James Apple along with other beloved family members who welcomed her into eternity.

She leaves behind the love of her life and devoted husband of 60 years, Charles E. Maxwell. They were married on November 25, 1965. Together they built a life centered on faith, family and service to others.

She is also survived by her daughters Tammy (Luke) Schmid of Baxter, Tanda (Alan) Pippin of Baxter, son Tony Maxwell of Cookeville; and her cherished grandchildren: Andrew (Kendall) Pippin of Bloomington Springs, Lukas (Christina) Schmid of Baxter, Salae (Grant) Jenkins of Knoxville, Summer Maxwell of Chattanooga, Marcus (Halie) Schmid of Baxter, Alana (Jared Bo) Davis of Gainesboro, Blake Maxwell of Cookeville and Sloane Maxwell of Cookeville.

Linda was also blessed with eight treasured great-grandchildren: Emma Rose Schmid, Charles Boone Pippin, Sutton James Pippin, William Travis Schmid, Ember Rue Schmid, Ivy Jo Pippin, Lillian Annette Schmid and Hudson Graham Jenkins.

She is survived by her sister, Leisa (Wayne) Huddleston of Nashville; her brother Glenn B. (Judy) Ramsey of Cookeville; sisters-in-law Jan Ramsey and Martha Ramsey both of Cookeville; brothers-in-law Ronny Maxwell of Cookeville and Steve (Geraldine) Maxwell of Baxter along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Linda's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the apple of her eye. She devoted her life to loving, encouraging and caring for them. She attended Upperman High School in Baxter and then Tennessee Tech University graduating with a degree in Home Economics. She later worked for many years in the library at Tennessee Tech University before retiring to spend precious time helping raise and care for her grandchildren.

As a faithful preacher's wife, Linda faithfully served alongside Charles for many years. Together they traveled throughout the Upper Cumberland area, assisting congregations wherever there was a need. If Linda learned of someone facing hardship, she never hesitated to help. Whether teaching a Bible class, preparing a meal, offering a ride to church, or simply providing encouragement, she gave of herself freely and never expected anything in return. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted member of Union Hill Church of Christ, Linda remained faithful in worship and service even on days when she did not feel well enough to attend. Being a Christian was the most important thing in her life, and her example of faith touched countless people through the years. She taught many Bible classes, encouraged those around her, and demonstrated Christ's love through her actions every day.

Linda was a strong homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning, tending her flowers, creating diamond art paintings, and working puzzles. She found joy in caring for her home and family, and her kindness and warmth made everyone feel welcome.

Perhaps one of her greatest acts of love was the devoted care she provided to her husband, Charles, throughout his battle with dementia. She cared for him with remarkable patience, compassion, and unwavering dedication, just as she lovingly cared for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren throughout her life.

A funeral service will be Monday, June 15 at 2 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home, 532 4th Avenue South, Baxter, TN. Bro. Chris Ramsey and Bro.
