Lois Horsley

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Memorial services for Edna Lois Boyd Horsley, age 83, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday January 31 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Figura officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 - 11 a.m. Mrs. Horsley died peacefully Monday afternoon, January 26, 2026, in her room at Bailey Manor in Cookeville TN.

She was born May 14, 1942, in Cookeville, TN to the late Asberry Landon Boyd and Elliot Selina Haston Boyd.

Lois loved the Lord and her family and will be remembered for her love of flowers and her meticulous note-taking. Mrs. Horsley spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, and she and her family were able to live abroad for many of those years. She was able to pursue a love of knitting - knitting baby afghans for dozens of newborns over the years, gardening - winning many ribbons for her flower arrangements at the Putnam County Fair, and was famous for her homemade sourdough bread. She was an active part of Faith Presbyterian Church, OPC in Silver Point, TN, where she and her husband were founding members.

Her family includes her late husband, Don Francis Horsley, whom she married March 12, 1966 in Cookeville; daughter, Karen Kincaid of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Stephanie Horsley of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Sophie Kincaid of Stone Mountain, GA, Joshua (Anna) Kincaid of Wheaton, IL, Maddie Kincaid of Cookeville, and Theo Kincaid of Cookeville; two step-grandchildren Grace Plett of Philadelphia, PA, and Arden Plett of St. Augustine, FL; a brother-in-law, Raymond Horsley of Fayetteville, TN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, and by her sister Ruth Mildred Boyd Spurlock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Meharry Medical College in Nashville, where both Lois and Don donated their remains (https://meharry.edu/campaign-150/give/).

Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share your thoughts and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
