Lucille Bertram-Rains

Mrs. Lucille Bertram-Rains, age 98, passed away on February 26, 2026 at Life Care Center of Sparta, TN.

Lucille was born February 14, 1928 in Wayne County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Hattie Bertram Drisko and stepfather, Harry Drisko.

Lucille was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church of New Castle, Indiana where she enjoyed singing in the choir. After working 31 years at General Motors Guide Lamp in Anderson, IN she retired in December 1978. During her 47 years of retirement, she enjoyed being at home working in her garden and flowers, feeding the birds, cleaning the church and her home, and cooking her family-pleasing favorite dishes, especially her chocolate pie.

She is survived by her cousin Phillip Heneger, whom both she and her husband considered their son for almost 80 years, along with Phillip's wife Cathy and their daughter Holly Heneger-Williams, and husband, Mark, all of Cookeville, Tennessee. She is also survived by special friends/caregivers Dale and Cindy Pitts, Kay Lyons, and Kenny Lyons; Mary Stage, Jerry Brummett of DeBary, FL; and many cherished neighbors and other cousins. The family wishes to express appreciation for the special caregivers at The Terrace of Life Care Center of Sparta, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O. W. Buck Rains, and cousin, Barbara Brummett of DeBary, FL.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 12:00 p.m. E.S.T., Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. Pastor Kenny Lyons will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the New Castle Order of the Easter Star #116, of which Mrs. Rains was a member for more than 50 years.
