Memorial services for Mr. Lyman E. Schroeder, age 92 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, June 8th at 11 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Schroeder's family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He died Monday, June 5, 2017 at His House-Residential Home in Cookeville. He was born May 16, 1925 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Hermon Rhinehold and Phoebe Shauger Schroeder. Lyman served his country as a member of the US Army and was a WWII Veteran. He landed on Normandy on D-Day and helped knocked down the back gates to the Dachau Concentration Camp. Mr. Schroeder was a farmer and golf course owner in Michigan before moving to San Diego where he owned a heavy equipment company. He moved to Cookeville and married Juanita Loftis Schroeder in 2002 with whom a teenage relationship was rekindled. They were married for 13 years. Mr. Schroeder was a "Jack of all Trades" and loved people....."Just a Great Man". He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives, Arlene Kolb Schroeder, Carol Wittner Schroeder, and Juanita Loftis Schroeder; daughter, Debbie Schroeder and grandson, Andrew Schroeder. He is survived by four sons: Rick, Paul, Kim & Steve Schroeder; daughter, Mardi Rembold; three step-children, Philip Loftis, Gail Woodard (and devoted caregiver), and Gary Loftis. He is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren, among them, special granddaughter, Nicci Rembold. Memorial services will also be held at a later date in Auburn, Michigan and San Diego, California. The family suggests donations to His House, c/o Connie Mitchell, 570 State St, Cookeville, TN 38501.
