BAXTER CHAPEL-Frances Marie White, known affectionately as Marie to her friends and family, passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Silver Point, Tennessee on April 6, 1943, to the late Oba "Obie" and Jo Ella Shores Herren, Marie was a beacon of love and selflessness throughout her life. She breathed her last in Cookeville, Tennessee, surrounded by the warmth of her memories and the love of her family.
Marie was a proud 1961 graduate of Upperman High School, where she forged the foundation of lifelong friendships and exemplified the virtues of dedication and passion that would characterize her personal and professional life. Her career spanned 26 years at Fleetguard, where she was not only an esteemed employee but also a cherished colleague. Upon retirement, she continued to commit her time and heart to the community as a revered member of Herren's Chapel Church of Christ.
Family was the centerpiece of Marie's life. She is survived by her devoted son, Michael D. White of Baxter, who was the apple of her eye and the recipient of her boundless love. Her legacy extends to her nephew, Glen (Jill) Herren; niece, Joyce (James) Meadows; her adored great-nephews, Jared Herren, Kevin Thomas, Jimmy (Penny) Meadows; and great-niece, Lisa Carr, who will carry forward her spirit of generosity and kindness.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Rodger White, who passed away on October 6, 2004. Their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, and together they shared life's joys and challenges. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Vera Mai Lewis and Mary Magdalene Fisher; brother, Oval Herren; and nieces, Cindy Herren Thomas and Sue Carr. Their memories remained a treasured part of her story.
Those who knew Marie recognized her as a loving and selfless soul, whose passion for life's simple pleasures was evident in everything she did. She found immense joy in the role of a doting mother, ensuring that her son, Michael, knew the depths of her love and dedication. Her heart was a wellspring of compassion, always ready to give and never expecting anything in return.
Marie's interests were a reflection of her loving nature when she cooked, baked, canned and sewed.
The words that best describe Marie—loving, selfless, and passionate—only skim the surface of the profound impact she made on those around her. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a melody, and her advice a guiding light. Marie's life was an embodiment of the virtues she held dear, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Marie White's departure from this world leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love and acts of kindness. As her family and friends gather to bid her farewell, they will celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless ways she enriched the lives of others. Her story, marked by grace and generosity, will be cherished and recounted for generations to come.
In the gentle breeze that whispers through the trees of Silver Point, in the warm gatherings at Herren’s Chapel Church of Christ, and in the quiet moments of reflection, Marie's spirit will live on. Though she has left this earthly realm, her legacy of love and passion will never fade.
