BAXTER CHAPEL-Martin "Larry" Leftwich, age 77, was born on March 28, 1949, in Detroit, MI, and passed away peacefully at his home in Baxter on Friday, August 14, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Larry was the beloved son of the late Luke Leftwich and Katie Pearl Bussell Leftwich. He was also lovingly raised by stepmother Joyce Helm Leftwich. Though his parents have preceded him in death, their values and teachings shaped the foundation of Larry's life-a legacy he carried forward and shared with those who knew him best.

He leaves behind his son, Ken Leftwich and wife Melanie of Baxter; and his daughter, Melanie Nabors and husband David of Buffalo Valley; his brothers, Kenny Leftwich of Northville, MI and Herb Leftwich and wife Lavinia of Baxter, his sisters, Sharon Griggs and Gail Myers and husband Dale all of Baxter; grandchildren: Ryley Cook, Spencer Nabors, and Bristol Leftwich, and his great-grandchildren, Baylor Cook and Theo Cook. Larry took immense delight in their achievements and happiness, always encouraging and supporting them with warmth and wisdom.

Larry was a graduate of Upperman High School in Baxter class of 1967. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army serving from 1968 to 1970. He worked as a carpenter in local home construction for 40 years and was a heavy equipment operator.

Larry enjoyed fishing and the gatherings at his home for the "Indian Creek Opry" a time of music, food and fellowship.

Graveside services and interment will be Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 3 PM at Leftwich Cemetery on Leftwich Ridge Road, Baxter, TN. Bro. Herb Leftwich will officiate. Military service by Veterans Honor Guard. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, everyone will meet at the cemetery for the service.
