COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Mary Elizabeth Boles, born on March 10, 1947, in Springfield, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her residence in Cookeville on Sunday December 28, 2025. Mary was raised by her loving grandparents, Bessie Roe and Garnett Clay True. She was a vibrant soul whose gregarious and bold personality left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary was known for her great fashion sense, always dressing up and embracing her favorite color, turquoise. She loved to dance and even participated in competitions, celebrating life with joyous movement and rhythm. Her passion for travel led her to Florida, where she cherished many memorable vacations.
She is remembered fondly by her children, Randall Scott Boles (Jenny Bennett) and Lisa Nicole McLaughlin (Michael), as they give thanks to God for her light. Mary took great pride in her role as a grandmother, and her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Vivian Donn Boles, Madeline Simone McLaughlin, Sophia Jean McLaughlin, and True Hensley McLaughlin.
Mary’s siblings, Joe Carlisle and Joyce Hodges (Rick), also hold dear the memories of their beloved sister. Throughout her journey, Mary held dearly to many close friends including Nancy Williams (John Costa), Darlene Hensley, Marina Daywood (Jason), and Melissa Huffaker (John) who carry forward her spirit and love.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, George Crawford and Juanita Carlisle; her husband, George Ronald Boles; and her siblings, Randy Crawford and Anita Kelly. Their memories will forever be intertwined with hers.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday January 17 starting at 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at the Cookeville First Presbyterian Church, located at 20 North Dixie Avenue, Cookeville, TN 38501.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Mary Elizabeth Boles, reflecting on the joy and warmth she brought into the world. Memorial gifts can be sent in Mary’s honor to support the Giving Griddle ministry at First Presbyterian Church.
