Funeral Services for Mary Elizabeth Clemons, age 85, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Maggart Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening, March 5, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Dyer Funeral Home. Mrs. Clemons died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 3, 1927 in Silver Point TN to the late Robert P. Maggart and Mattie Belle Dyer Maggart. Mary was a loving lady and was loved in return by many friends as well as her family, and she had a special place in her heart for her animals. Mary was also a member of the Mattie Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church. Ms. Mary is survived by a sister; Louise Burton-Buck (husband Robert H. Buck) of McMinnville and Cookeville and a brother, Robert J. Maggart (wife Christine) of Cookeville. She is also survived by a niece, Shannon Byrd (husband Fred) of McMinnville, and two nephews, James E. Maggart (wife Evon) of Cookeville and Scott Burton of Dallas TX; three great-nephews, Lance and Logan Byrd of McMinnville and James Robert Maggart (wife Amanda) of Cookeville and a great-niece, Kimberly Maggart also of Cookeville; and one great-great nephew, Eric Maggart; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ruby and Byrd Clemons of Silver Point, Katie Lee, Janie B., and Arthur; and special friends Charlotte Ragland, Linda Barnes, and Pat Nash, all of Cookeville; and caring neighbors as well as several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Clemons; two brothers, Frank Edward Maggart and Willard Maggart; and a brothes-in-law, Whitson Burton, Arvil, Fayron, and Roosevelt Clemons. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cookeville, Putnam County Animal Shelter. Pallbears will be James Robert Maggart, Byrd Clemons Jr., Clyde Clemons, Fred Byrd, Lance Byrd and James Thrasher. Bro. Harry Green and Bro. Woody Russell will be conducting the service.
