Mary Moss

Graveside services and interment for Mary Elice Freeman Moss, 98 of Cookeville, will be Tuesday, October 11 at 1:30 PM at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 AM until 1 PM at Willow Avenue Church of Christ. Procession will leave the church at 1PM to Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Clarence DeLoach and Bro. Kelly Campbell will officiate.

Mrs. Moss passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Cookeville, Tennessee.

She was born Thursday June 26, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Colbert and Elice Swallows Freeman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Frank Moss on May 19, 1983, a brother Marion Freeman, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Oscar and Emma Moss.

During her elementary school years, she moved to Algood, Tennessee where she graduated from Algood High School in 1942. Mrs. Moss was employed by the Cookeville Housing Authority for many years where she managed Walnut Village Apartments. She was a former Cub Scout Den mother for Tech Campus School and a former member of the Cookeville Pilot Club. She also was a volunteer for the Cookeville Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for more than 20 years.

Mrs. Moss was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors include son Russell Moss and wife Lucinda and two grandsons: Dr. Frank Moss III of San Francisco, California and Dr. Andrew Moss and wife Francie of Charleston, South Carolina.

Active Pallbearers will be Dr. Frank Moss, III, Dr. Andrew Moss, Patrick Stout, Seth Pinson, J.D. Parks, and John Hoffmeister.
