May Bell Hicks

Funeral services for Mrs. May Bell Hicks, age 87, of Monterey will be at 1pm Saturday, September 3 at Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Singleton officiating. Interment will follow at Whittaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11am until 1pm. Mrs. Hicks passed away Tuesday evening, August 30, 2016 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation in Monterey. She was born March 20, 1929 in Putnam County TN to the late Frank and Vera Vaughn Jernigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clifford Hicks and brother, Olen D. Jernigan Mrs. Hicks was retired from Oster Corporation in Cookeville. She was formerly employed Ely & Walker Shirt Factory in Monterey, and as a CNA at the former Masters Health Care Center in Algood. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Nina Hicks of Manchester, TN, Morson and Roberta Hicks of McMinnville, TN; three daughters, Marsha Hicks of Monterey, Sue Norrod of Rickman; and Teresa Patterson of Petersburg, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Marlen and George Haney of Crossville; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. John Jernigan, David Jernigan, William Beachy, Dillon Norrod, Josh Brown, and Donald Brown will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Monterey Church of Christ, 308 W.
