COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Maynard Paul Brooks, known affectionately as Paul, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, in Cookeville, TN. Born to the late Maynard Clyde and Geraldine Delores Russell Brooks on March 14, 1955, in Ft. Campbell, KY, Paul's life was a testament to service, love, and adventure.

Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1973 to 1977, including a period during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to social work after earning his degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. His commitment to helping others was unwavering and deeply respected.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rena Nunally Brooks; his daughter, Jennifer Brooks McCormick; his step-children, Curtiss Nunally and Ramie Nunally; his brother, Steve Brooks; his sister, Leslie Palmieri; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Each family member cherished Paul for his warmth, wisdom, and humor.

Paul's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hiking, camping, and traveling. His adventurous spirit and his often-quoted saying, "when it's time for me to die, take me and my Bowie knife to the North Pole and drop me off with the polar bears," will continue to inspire his family and friends.

Paul's final wishes for cremation are being honored and the family will gather to celebrate his life at a later date.

Paul's legacy of kindness, bravery, and a life well-lived will be remembered by all who knew him.
