Melissa Dawn LaFever

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Melissa Dawn LaFever, born on July 6, 1975, in Trenton, NJ, passed away on Saturday December 13, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She leaves behind a legacy of tremendous faith that remained firm and solid even in the midst of adversity.

Melissa’s smile and life radiated light. Her family describes her as the light of the family. She loved her family deeply and relished time together as a family. Melissa played softball through high school and remained active throughout her life. She enjoyed running with her son.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Richard LaFever, mother, Doreen Cox; sons Ryan (Savannah) LaFever and Johnathan LaFever; sister, Colleen Cox; grandchildren, Maddox and Case LaFever and multiple in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, John William Cox, Jr..

A memorial service to honor Melissa will be Saturday December 27 at 1p.m. at Cookeville First Baptist Church.

Melissa will be remembered for the incredible impact she had on the life of those around her.
