COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Melvin Lee Turner, born on January 26, 1959, in Berea, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Grandview Care in Cookeville, Tennessee at the age of 66. A devoted family man and cherished friend, Melvin's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his career in the manufacturing industry and his passions outside of work.
Melvin's journey began in Ohio, where he attended high school, laying the foundation for the skills and work ethic that would define his professional life. Throughout his career, he earned respect and admiration from colleagues and peers alike for his commitment to excellence.
An avid auctioneer, Melvin found joy and fulfillment in his hobby, reflecting a spirited personality that loved engaging with others. His passion for family was at the heart of everything he did; he took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather.
Melvin is survived by his beloved daughter, Misty Turner of Cookeville, and his dear sister, Phyllis Turner of Ohio. He leaves behind three adoring grandchildren—Kari, Kaleb, and Camrin Turner—who brought him immense joy and were central to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Christopher and Mary Lois Bohannon Turner, his sister, Lois Smith, and an infant brother, Kenneth Eugene Turner. The legacy of love and dedication that Melvin instilled in his family will endure, forever remembering the warmth he brought to their lives.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a Graveside Service at Cookeville City Cemetery starting at 11:00 AM.
Melvin Lee Turner’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know and love him.
