COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Funeral services for Mildred Hall, age 73 of Algood, will be held Friday, July 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Jonathan Young and Sterl Paramore will officiate. Interment will follow in Algood Heritage Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mildred Louise Hall, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Alive Hospice Murfreesboro on Sunday June 28, 2026, following a recent cancer diagnosis. Born on February 1, 1953, in Cookeville, Tennessee, Mildred entered the world as Mildred Louise Darty, and from her earliest days she was destined to be a pillar of strength, love, and spirited determination for her family and all who knew her.

For thirty years, Mildred was a steadfast employee at the former Red Kap in Cookeville. Her commitment and dependable presence left a lasting impression among her colleagues and friends. Fueled by the same dedication, she later contributed fifteen fulfilling years to Capshaw Elementary School, impacting the lives of many children and colleagues alike. Her work ethic, grounded in care and diligence, resonated across every stage of her career.

Mildred’s passions filled her life with color and laughter. She took delight in getting her nails fixed frequently, finding joy in small acts of self-care and personal expression. Shopping excursions—often lively and enjoyable—provided opportunities to connect with loved ones. Saturdays in the fall found her cheering on Alabama football, her voice no doubt one of the loudest in support of her favorite team.

She was known for her loving heart and her fierce loyalty. As the family matriarch, Mildred’s embrace extended across generations, gently guiding with wisdom, and standing firm when the moment required it. Her strong and independent nature was matched only by her feisty and sometimes stubborn spirit, qualities that helped her weather life’s storms and encourage others to do the same.

Her life’s journey was deeply rooted in the rolling hills of Tennessee, where she grew up surrounded by family. Mildred’s heart always remained anchored in Algood, a place she carried with her throughout her days.

Mildred was proud of her membership and service at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith and dedication shown as examples of how to live a life of purpose, kindness, and commitment to one’s community.

She leaves her adoring family: her sons Donald C. (Emily) Hayes, Jr., Calvin (Shawna) Hayes, Jerry (Heather) Hayes, and Keith Hayes; and a host of grandchildren (13) and great grandchildren (12). Her special cousin, whom she considered a sister, Katrina Gaddis, her sister, Ernestine Hill, nephew whom she considered a son, Matt Darty, niece whom she considered a daughter, Keisha (Stacy) Darty, and Stacy whom she called her "Doctor" are also among those who will cherish her memory.

She is reunited in eternal rest with her son Travis Hayes and her husband Varman Leon “Bee” Hall. Also preceding her are her father AV, mother Louise Bartlett Darty, sisters Frances Hogan and Ruth Rhodes, and brothers Virgil, Charles, and John Darty.

Devin Hayes, Patrick Tubbs, Ray Gaddis, Robbie League, Eric Rhodes, Matt Darty, Terry Strong, and Billy Gnagie will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers: Christopher Hayes, Damon West, and Danny West.
