BAXTER CHAPEL-Mildred (Millie) Jared Wallace, 95, of Naples, Florida passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 after a brief illness.
Born on August 29, 1930, in Boma, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Julius Benton Jared and Bettie (née Ford) Jared. Millie had been a resident of Naples for the past 14 years, having moved from Nashville, Tennessee.
Millie loved Jesus, her family and her church. She loved her husband and children well, and found great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew her as Granna. The entire family looked forward to spending time at Granna’s house. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and crafts, and delighted in sharing these experiences with her family. Millie will be remembered for her love, kindness, and generosity to those who knew her.
While a resident of Nashville, TN (1948-1955, 1981-2012) and Louisville, KY (1955-1981), Millie enjoyed serving as Senior Adult Coordinator for both Lyndon Baptist Church in Louisville and Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville. She married Bob Wallace in 2012 and moved to Naples, FL where Bob served as Pastor at Everglades Community Church.
Preceded in death by husbands Tom Shirley, Floyd Crawford and Reverend Dr. Bob Wallace; and brother, Ralph Edward Jared. Survived by daughter, Beth Lyons (Joe) of Oxford, MS; son, David Shirley (Linda) of Franklin, TN; step-daughters Carol Hodge (John) of Louisville, KY and Ruth Wilder (Gary) of Borden, IN; as well as 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many loving family and friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at New Home Baptist Church, 10350 Old Baxter Road, Baxter TN. Graveside Service afterward in the cemetery behind the church, followed by a Reception in the church Fellowship Hall.
