MINNIE "CRICKET" GOOLSBY
COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Minnie Mae Goolsby, affectionately known as "Cricket," departed from this world on August 13, 2025, at the Grandview Post Acute Care in Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on January 2, 1938, in Clay County, TN, Minnie lived a life rich in love and devotion, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
Minnie dedicated much of her life to her career, starting as a factory worker at Stillmans and Gould in Cookeville. However, it was her role as a loving babysitter to her cherished grandchildren that truly brought her joy. Her family members often reminisce about her delicious banana pudding, a sweet treat that became a treasured memory for many, illustrating her nurturing spirit.
A devout Christian with a strong faith as a member of the Church of God, Minnie's personality was characterized by her loving and soft-spoken nature. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, always ready to share a smile or lend a helping hand. Her hobbies included tending to her flowers, watching hummingbirds, dancing, and enjoying bluegrass music, all reflecting her vibrant spirit and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Minnie is survived by her loving children, Brenda (Don) Maddox, Glen Goolsby, and Karen (Carl) Mashburn, along with her adoring grandchildren, Jessica (Brad) McQuillin, Samantha Goolsby, Nikki Dyer Smith, Bradley Goolsby, Sharron (Terry) Walden, Glynn (Patience) Goolsby, Justin (Katie) Mashburn, Megan (Colin) Long and Chad (Chelsea) Maddox. She was a proud great-grandmother to Mayson, Easton, Madison, Samuel, Jessie, Jakob, Abbie, Jackson, Mackenzie, Kylie, Kolton, Knoxleigh, Avie, Sayla and Eden, all of whom filled her life with immense joy and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Opal Hall Pennington, her beloved husband of 57 years, Alford Leland Goolsby, her daughter Debbie Goolsby, her great-grandchild Mollie Smith, and her brothers Ray, Joe, Jerry, and David Pennington.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 12:00 pm in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper, Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Danny Hembree will officiate.
Her family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Don Maddox, Chad Maddox, Justin Mashburn, Colin Long, Brad McQuillin and Samantha Goolsby will serve as pallbearers.
