Nancy Sue Anders
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Nancy Sue Anders, 81, of Sparta, Tenn., passed away peacefully on May 1.She was born on Dec. 20, 1944, in Birmingham, Ala., to Geneva and Phillip Hudson. Nancy got her love of laughter from her mother, and throughout her life carried it to everyone she met, no one more so than her soulmate, Herbert, her husband of nearly 64 years. She was a deeply devoted mother to her sons, John and Jason, serving as a volunteer and a teacher’s aide in their schools as they grew up. Later, she returned to an earlier career and had success as a loan operations manager for Wells Fargo. She filled her retirement with family, friends, and her famous fried chicken, among many other culinary delights. Nancy was a member of Hampton’s Crossroads Baptist Church in Cookeville and had a particular talent for making new friends everywhere she went and making them feel like lifelong loved ones. Her enormous heart was available to all, but she made clear that a special part belonged to her cherished grandchildren, Hudson and Parker Sue, who adored their “Grammy.”In addition to her husband, sons, and grandchildren, Nancy is survived by her brother, Phillip (Beverly) Hudson, and son-in-law, Serkan Anders. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Bettye (Thomas) Thieme.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a brief service, on Monday, May 11, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with interment at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Clean Heart Christian Ministries, 17 E. Maple St., Sparta, Tenn.
