Nancy Gentry

DYER CHAPEL - Nancy Yvonne Sparks Gentry, a devoted mother, beloved daughter and sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 6, 2026, at the age of 67, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Born on October 25, 1958, in Cookeville, Nancy's life was filled with love and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Nancy spent her career as a compassionate nurse, retiring after many years of service in area hospitals, including those in Cookeville, Sparta, and Carthage. She especially enjoyed her time working at the Convenient Care Clinic in Cookeville, where she touched the lives of countless patients with her warmth and kindness.

Outside of her professional life, Nancy was an avid Tennessee Titans fan, who never missed a game. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and cross-stitching. Her talent as an artist brought beauty into the world, and her creations will be treasured by her family and friends for years to come.

Nancy was known for her caring and happy-go-lucky spirit. She loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them. She is preceded in death by her father, David Sparks, and her granddaughter, Everly Neely. Her memory will forever be held dear by her surviving family: her mother, Jill Gambrell Sparks; her son, Joseph Neely (Kristen Harville); her daughter, Tashana Clouse (Todd Meadows); her brothers, James Sparks (Sue Ann) and Thomas Sparks; her sisters, Debbie Null (Johnny), Jane Foutch (Martin), and Carol Spencer; her grandchildren, Skylor Myers, Caleb Neely, Rylee Joe Neely, Kelsey Clouse, Allyssa Clouse, Zayden Clouse, and Sophie Clouse; and her beloved dog, Shasha.

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on Friday September 11 at 1 p.m. at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home (798 S Willow Ave.) Pastor Mike Adams will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Friday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Her family invites all who knew her to join them in remembering a woman whose life was marked by love, generosity, and an infectious zest for life.
