Nancy Grace Hale

DYER CHAPEL-Nancy Grace Cooper Hale, 78 of Cookeville, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 13, 1948, in White County, TN to the late Dewey and Winnie Clouse Cooper.

Nancy’s greatest source of joy throughout her life was her family. She is survived by her son, James Hale and his wife Melissa of Livingston, TN. stepson, Chris Hale of Cookeville; and stepdaughter, Melissa Stults of Cookeville. She embraced her role as a devoted grandmother to Chelsea Hale, Brian and Shanda Reece, Amber Reece, and Kayla Reece. Her warmth extended even further to her great-grandchildren—Jamison Kendall, Dani Reece, Aubrey Reece, Jax Reece, McKenzie Reece, Forrest Smith, Addiesin Smith, Elias Smith, and Rowdy Hennessee. Nancy is also survived by her brother, Billy Cooper of Lebanon; her sister, Rita Hale of Cookeville; and her sister-in-law, Carol Cooper of Baxter.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn Hale; her brothers, Norman Cooper, Jr. Cooper, Jackie Cooper, and Dean Cooper; and her granddaughter, Sierra Hale. Whether celebrating together in moments of happiness or gathering together through hardship, Nancy’s steady presence was a source of comfort.

Family and friends will gather in Nancy’s honor to pay tribute to the remarkable woman she was. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dyer Chapel, 798 South Willow Avenue, Cookeville, Tennessee, and again on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with funeral services at 2:00 p.m., both at Dyer Chapel. Interment will follow in Harris Cemetery, on Bob Gentry Road, in Cookeville. Benji Cooper will officiate.

Nancy Grace Hale’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love have left an impression on everyone whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
