Nelson Roy Castle, age 84, of Cookeville, TN passed peacefully on August 23 after a long illness. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Ann, sons Greg (Kate) Castle, New Bern, NC, son Dave Castle, Kensington, NH and daughter Brenda Castle Hayslette, Monterey, TN and grandchildren, Sarah (Dani) Msuya, Bethany Castle, Dan Castle in ME, Maggie Castle, Brady Castle in NC, and Josie Hayslette, Luke Hayslette, Sam Hayslette, Nate Hayslette in TN and great grandson Draco Msuya in ME. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou Basore of Vero Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews and his fur pal of 15 years, Cookie. Nelson proudly served in the U.S. Navy, then he and his wife Ann bought and ran Castle's Hobby Center in Westbrook, Maine for 25 years. Next came retirement and the RV adventure. They traveled the southern states during the winters, finally settling half the year in Florida and half in Tennessee. Nelson was a self made, ambitious, hard working family man who could build anything and fix everything. His many hobbies include flying and teaching others to fly remote controlled airplanes. He also loved restoring old cars and boats and was an avid golfer. He will be laid to rest in Cookeville, TN with a family Celebration of Life at a later date.
