COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Nicholas Michael Evans, born on December 29, 1995, in Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday August 6, 2025, at the age of 29. A cherished member of his community and a beloved husband, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. Nick had a personality larger than life with a smile that matched. His spirit brightened every room, and he was known for never meeting a stranger.
Just two months ago, Nick had the joy of marrying the love of his life, Grace. The two met through mutual friends in 2018, became engaged in November 2023, and were married this past May. Grace has been a cherished addition to the Evans family, bringing warmth, love, and joy to all.
Nick graduated from Cookeville High School in 2014 and went on to attend the University of Tennessee, forming lifelong friendships wherever he went. Not long after, he purchased the lawn care company where he had worked for several years, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit. Recently, he built a successful career as a Project Manager with Modern Roofing Group, where his dedication, leadership, and passion for his work were deeply valued by both colleagues and clients.
An avid outdoorsman, Nick found true joy in nature. He was especially passionate about deer and duck hunting, fishing, and golfing and shared it with friends and family. Whether it was the quiet stillness of a duck blind at sunrise, casting a line on the water, or a round of golf on a sunny afternoon, Nick embraced every opportunity to be outside. His love for nature and adventure was not only unmatched, but infectious, inspiring those around him to slow down and appreciate the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Evans; his parents, Greg and Susan Evans; his brothers, Jason Evans and Matt Evans (wife, Morgan), his nephews, Levi and Noah Evans; his paternal grandmother, Peggy Evans; and his maternal grandfather, Robert Haag.
Nick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harold Evans, and maternal grandmother, JoAnn Haag.
Pallbearers: Greg Evans, Jason Evans, Matt Evans, Scott Ellis, Luke Dunham, James Paisley, Ethan Deloach and Will Brady
Honorary Pallbearers: Jackson Paisley, Spencer Wise, Cameron Selby, Jake Wear, Alex Jones and Gianni Scramuzza
A visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday August 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow on Monday, August 11 at 11:00 AM at Highland Cemetery in Sparta. A Celebration of Life to follow at Duck Pond Manor from 12:30 to 2:30pm.
There will be a private family procession to the cemetery led by Sam Langford, in true Nick fashion, in the back of a pickup truck for one last ride.
Nick’s vibrant spirit and love for life will continue to inspire all who knew him. He leaves behind a profound impact and a legacy of joyous memories that will be cherished forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Duck’s Unlimited - Wilson County Tennessee Chapter in Nick’s memory. This group has agreed to dedicate an account that will be known as The Nick Evans Waterfowl Fund which will be used exclusively for future “Greenwing Events”. Any contribution to this fund will go directly toward youth events hosted in Tennessee.
