Owen Sparks

Funeral services for Mr. Owen Junior Sparks, age 85, of Cookeville, will be 1 PM Sunday December 23 at the Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Clarence DeLoach and Bro. Mike Dyer will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 - 8 PM and Sunday from 11 AM until time of the service. Mr. Sparks passed away Thursday morning December 20, 2018 at Life Care Center of Sparta. He was born Thursday July 27, 1933 in Cookeville, TN to the late Lester Lee and Mary Lee McCormick Sparks. He was a graduate of Cookeville High School and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Sparks was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ. He was a retired painter with Cookeville Industries. He enjoyed knife collecting. He is survived by two sons, Chris (Sammie) Sparks, Larry (Teresa) Sparks all of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Andrew (Whitney) Sparks, Jake Sparks, Carley Sparks; great-grandchild, Kylie Allen; and sister, Sylvia Smith of Cookeville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Maudean Boatman Sparks on October 1, 2018; sister, Ruby Moss; and brothers, L.D., Ed and Howard Sparks. Elders and deacons of Willow Avenue Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Willow Meals 1150 S. Willow Ave. Cookeville, TN 38506.
