Pauline Ruth Hanson, a retired pear farmer, passed away of heart failure on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at her Morningside Assisted Living residence where she had lived since 2007. Mrs. Hanson had just turned 100 years and had celebrated both her birthday and Christmas with her entire family who had come from all across America to attend the glorious celebration. Mrs. Hanson was born December 21, 1917 in her grandparent's farmhouse in Scotts Valley, near Lakeport California in Northern California's wine country and until 2007, lived on the property where she was born. She is survived by her son Norman Black and daughter-in-law Judy Black of Monterey TN, adult grandchildren Shannon Hepner of Ramsey MN, Jayson Black of Zimmerman MN, Charles Black of Hansville WA and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Hanson who outlived two husbands, attended Collegeside Church of Christ with her close friend Evelyn Stites until health issues prevented further attendance. Funeral services will be held at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11 am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Hanson will then be carried to the Chapel of the Lake Funeral Home in Lakeport, California where additional services will be held Thursday February 8 at 12 noon ( PST).
