Peggy Loftis

BAXTER CHAPEL - Mrs. Peggy Ann Loftis age 84 of Sawmill Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Saturday January 17, 2026 at Sonshine Manor following an extended illness. Mrs. Loftis was born on February 8, 1941 in Baxter, TN., the daughter of the late Tamar Thompson and the late Jean Ford Thompson.

She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Peggy loved gardening and growing flowers. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother , great and great-great grandmother. She was very active in her church and was very avid in her Bible studies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Joe Loftis in 1997, a son, Gary Loftis in 2016, a granddaughter, Kristin Bradley, two sisters, Roberta Steward and Faye Smith and two brothers, Bobby and Johnny Thompson. Mrs. Loftis was a member of Blairsville Church of Christ.

Surviving Mrs. Loftis are two sons and one daughter in law, Roger and Heather Loftis and Jimmy Loftis all of Blairsville, one daughter, Kathy Gordon of Asheville, NC., one brother, Tamar Thompson of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, Jonathan Gordon, Courtney and David Hatcher, Brittany Loftis, Alycia and Justin Blanchard, Josh and Anohkee Loftis, Karla Kidd and Kasey Loftis, twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2026 at 3:00 pm at the Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, Georgia with Minister Terry Stuart officiating. Interment will follow on Wednesday January 21, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the New Home Boma Cemetery in Baxter, TN. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray expenses in memory of Mrs. Loftis. The family will meet with friends at the Mountain View funeral home on Tuesday from 1-3:00 pm.
