COOKEVILLE CHAPEL-A memorial service for Mr. Renardo "Phil" Philips will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Cookeville Church of Christ (1810 N Dixie Ave, Cookeville, TN 38501). Bro. Don Blackwell will officiate.
His family will receive friends Friday, April 11th from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Cookeville Church of Christ.
Phil passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Friday, March 28, 2025, at NHC Healthcare in Cookeville, TN. Born on January 30, 1945, in Washington, D.C., Phil dedicated 45 years of his life as a Produce Merchandiser with the home office in MD, where he not only achieved professional success but also became a positive influence and mentor to many. He retired in 2010, after which he and Carol moved to Cookeville, TN, where he continued to maintain close friendships with many of his former coworkers and one being a very special friend, Corey Dorsey.
Phil's vibrant personality was characterized by his fun-loving nature, warm demeanor, and an infectious sense of humor that endeared him to those around him. He was a people person who will be remembered for his caring and giving spirit, having touched the lives of many with his kindness.
He served four years in the United States Air Force. Phil became an active member of his church and served as a Deacon at Willow Avenue Church of Christ and was a Deacon at the Cookeville Church of Christ. He also served for nine years on the board for Happy Haven Children's Home in Cookeville.
Phil is survived by his devoted wife of over 40 years, Carol Lee Clendenin Philips; a grandson, Tayshawn Philips; his sister-in-law, Kathy Bickford and husband Jim; along with three nieces, Tracy (Eddie) Field, Kerry (Robert) Mayes, and Tara (Mickey) Manis. He also leaves behind a special friend, Dr. Dee Makjo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Mary Baptiste Philips, as well as his son, Riley Philips.
His family wishes to express special thanks to NHC Healthcare, Cookeville and Davita Dialysis for the fabulous care extended to Phil. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Cookeville Church of Christ, Gospel Broadcasting Network and/or to the charity of your choice.
