Philip Gordon Hillery

Philip Gordon Hillery met our Lord peacefully on February 18, 2012. Mr. Hillery was born in Bloomington, WI on November 29, 1931 to George and Nettie (Parrey) Hillery. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1949. On February 4, 1950 he married Nancy Lippitt in Madison, WI and they have been inseparable for 62 years. Philip was employed at Oscar Mayer, Madison, WI for 18 years as a steamfitter. In l971 he joined the Road Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669 and retired in 1991. He loved sharing stories about his work and the places his jobs took him. He was well known for fishing, hunting, golfing, fixing and making things. Mr. Hillery was a devoted father to Darcy (Frank) Shinn, Tim (Caryl) Hillery, Jane (Jack) Gerlach, Joni (Trent) Heitz, and Dan (Shari) Hillery. He was adored by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Philip was predeceased by three brothers; Garrett, Frank Edward, and Jean; and an infant grandson Scott Philip. Our family thanks the staff at Cookeville Regional Cancer Center, Caris Hospice, and especially those at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. A celebration of life will be held at the Dyer Funeral Home, Cookeville, TN on Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 pm.
