Phillip Allen Goolsby

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Phillip Allen Goolsby, known by all who love him as Phil, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Livingston, Tennessee. Born January 18, 1972, at Lady Ann Memorial Hospital in Livingston, Tennessee, Phil had a great love for his family, especially his beloved “Ma Sells”. He was 54 years old.

Phil grew up in Livingston, Tennessee, and attended Livingston Academy as well as Livingston Vocational School. Phil was an avid angler, who never missed an opportunity to cast his rod and spend the day fishing alongside his beloved German Shepherd, Bear. Phil was extremely gifted and could fix just about anything you put in front of him, from clock radios to television sets to cars and scooters. He reveled in finding solutions to his fix-it projects and loved finding new life in things most people would throw away. Phil did not see junk, he saw treasures.

Anyone who knew Phil would tell you he never met a stranger. Phil had a lion’s heart and would literally give you the shirt off his back - no matter his own circumstances. He had a wicked sense of humor and a laugh that would send you into fits. Phil was a good friend and a kind stranger with a sweet soul. He loved with all of his heart.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Larry Goolsby; paternal grandparents Wallace and Jimmie Goolsby, and maternal grandparents Claude and Mildred “Ma” Sells. He leaves behind his mother, Gail Carr, his brother, sister-in-law and nephew Andrew, Jill and Gunnar Daniels and a slew of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

As we say goodbye to our beloved Phil, those of us who knew him will miss him forever and remember him with smiles on our faces and love in our hearts. Phil loved hard and if he loved you - you knew it, without a doubt. He made sure of that by showing up to help anytime he was called upon, flashing that big mischievous smile, and giving the absolute best hugs. He was kind and generous and so incredibly loved by his family.

A private family service will be held to honor Phillip’s life. A celebration of life for Phillip will be held at a later date.
