Randy Hensley

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Billy Randall “Randy” Hensley, born July 14, 1961, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday May 16, 2026.

Randy was a lifelong resident of Cookeville, Tennessee, and a faithful member of Smyrna Church of Christ, where he served for many years as a deacon and later as an elder. His love for the church was evident through his dedication to serving others, helping with church activities and events, and encouraging those around him through his quiet faithfulness.

Randy retired from the Cookeville City Gas Department after 43 years of service. Before his retirement, he served as Operations Superintendent, where he worked diligently to help provide reliable gas service to the residents and businesses of Cookeville. He took great pride in his work and in serving his community.

Outside of work and church, Randy loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, working with his tractor, and spending time working on his old car. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family, whom he loved deeply.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jenny Hensley; his son, Billy Mason Hensley, and daughter-in-law, Lacy Hensley; and his treasured granddaughters, Ruthie Hensley and Eden Hensley. He is also survived by his daughter, Lindsay Danielle Russell, and son-in-law, Trevor Russell.

Randy is also survived by his sister, Sandy Windrow, and brother-in-law, Rick Windrow; his nephews, Brett Windrow, Kirk Windrow, and Derek Windrow; and his niece, Amber Mason, and her husband, Jesse Hamler.

He is further survived by several beloved aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends, including Ensor and Nelda Stockton, Johnny and Beverly Nash, Gary and Linda Nash, and Terry Hensley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Faye Hensley, and by his in-laws, Johnie and Dorothy Mason. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Lora Hensley and Dallas and Elizabeth Nash.

A funeral service honoring Randy will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday May 20 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. James Rogers will officiate. Visitation for friends and family will be Tuesday from 4- 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Randy will be laid to rest at Smyrna Cemetery.

Randy will be remembered for his steady faith, servant’s heart, strong work ethic, love of family, and willingness to help anyone in need. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
