DYER CHAPEL-Richard Allen Glass, 72 of Cookeville, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on November 17, 1953, in Glascow, Kentucky, Richard’s life was marked by service to his country, devotion to his family, and a passion for the outdoors.
Richard proudly served as a United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam Era, an experience that shaped both his character and his deep commitment to the values he held throughout his life. He retired from Dacco of Cookeville, where he dedicated many years of service.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Richard found joy in participating in bass fishing tournaments with his friend Roger Young, a hobby that brought him much happiness. Richard also had a green thumb and enjoyed farming and gardening.
Richard is survived by his two daughters, Viola (Leon) Johnson of Loudon, Tennessee, and Katherine Glass-Rex of Crossville. He was a proud grandfather of ten, including Katosha (Robbie) Wilson of Maryville, Timothy (Ashley) Bennett of Cookeville, Katherine (Hunter) Lee of Lenoir City, Allison Dixon of Bristol, Trenton Glass of Cookeville, Ashley (Reed) Maynard of Cookeville, Elizabeth Bickel of Cookeville, Martin (Caitlyn) Rex of Crossville, Roy Rex of Crossville, and Katrina (Dustin) Bryant of Crossville. Additionally, he was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren: Adam, Dahlia, Damian, Eliana, Brantley, LizaBelle, William, Viola, Hollie, Rosalee, Gabriella, Mallorie, Owen, and Liam. His sister, Judy Greene of Cookeville, shared in his life’s journey, and he cherished the bond with his niece, Becky (Jacky) White of Sparta, as well as his great niece, Nikita (Andy) Stafford of Cookeville. Richard also had a loyal in his sidekick, Roy Ramsey, of Cookeville.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Deloris Glass, his son, William Glass, his son-in-law, Bobby Dixon, and his special brother-in-law, Richard Greene. Each of these individuals held a special place in his heart, and their memories will live on in the stories shared by those who knew them.
A celebration of life service with military honors for Richard Allen Glass will be held at a later date at Dyer Chapel, 798 S. Willow Ave in Cookeville.
Richard will forever be remembered by those who loved him. In this time of sorrow, his family and friends find comfort in the many joyous memories he created, a legacy that will endure through generations.
