BUFORD, GA/COOKEVILLE,TN-Mr. John “Robert” Hash, 89, left this earth to join his Savior on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Born on July 1, 1933, to Victor “Ed”ward and Jenny Kathleen “Katie” Hash in Morristown, Tennessee, the family would move to Cookeville, TN when he was in fourth grade. He had a idyllic childhood in what he always considered his hometown. He grew up in the Methodist church but began to attend Cookeville First Baptist Church when he was 12 years old. He would often ride his bike to attend services when his father was not able to take him. He graduated from Cookeville Central High School in 1951 and married his sweetheart Betty on October 25, that same year. At the end of October, he reported for duty in the United States Navy to serve his country during the Korean War. He loved Naval Air and at the end of his career was stationed in Pensacola where he and Betty had added a son to their family. The family would return to Pensacola for vacations and frequent visits to the Naval Air Station Museum throughout the years.

After the Navy, Robert, Betty and Mike returned to Cookeville where Robert used the VA bill to attend Tennessee Tech University graduating in under 3 years. Following graduation, Robert took a job with AT&T and moved to Nashville where he and Betty added a son Vic to the family. The young family then was transferred to several places in Tennessee returning to Nashville where they finished their family with the addition of a daughter, Becky. A couple of years later, the family moved to Atlanta where they would settle. Robert enjoyed volunteering with Cub/Boy Scouts, building airplane models with his children, Rotary Club, photography, and spending time with his family. His family were members of Briarlake Baptist Church in Decatur, GA. After retirement, Robert helped Betty in her real estate career and the couple moved to Duluth, GA where they became members of Johns Creek Baptist Church and the Durham Sunday School class where he volunteered helping in the memory wall and enjoyed men's breakfasts and fellowships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a little brother, and his beloved wife of 71 years, Betty Carroll Walker Hash who died a short four and a half months ago.
