A memorial service will be planned for a later date for Robert Scott "Ranger"� Locke, 59 of Cookeville who died August 11, 2012, at his residence. He was born August 18, 1952 in Wurzburg, Germany. Mr. Locke was a retired Veteran of the United States Army and served locally as a Deputy Sheriff with the Putnam County Sheriff Department. He served in Vietnam, Grenada, and Desert Storm. Military awards include two bronze stars, the Purple Heart, and the meritorious service medal. As a Deputy, he was the only member from PCSD to ever be awarded the Leadership Award by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. Mr. Locke was an executive officer with the Fraternal Order of Police Cordell Hull Lodge # 10, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6296, a member of American Legion Post 135, and a member of Tennessee Sheriff Association. His family includes his wife, Charlotte Newman Locke of Cookeville, three daughters: Dixie Eileen Locke of College Station, TX, Elizabeth Daggett of Memphis, TN, and Madison Anne Locke of Cookeville, a sister, Suzanne Procise of Brownwood, Texas and a brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Richard and Kassandra Newman of Cookeville and Mark and Beverley Newman of Houston, TX.
